Printing Mixes… More is Better…

So I had to head into the studio tonight for some unrelated BS… I decided to use the opportunity to print all the mixes for Karen Rockower’s “Whales Standing” record that I’ve just finished. This record has been quite a journey, and it is now going to mastering.

Here’s a little word of wisdom for you kiddies making records… It pays to give your mastering guy more options than you think. First off, get them to master the instrumentals and accapella versions. If anything happens with your music, you will need these files… dont be a rookie. Also providing the mastering engineer with stems gives them to fix possible problems that you aren’t aware of happening in the mix. It happens, and it sucks to not be able to handle it without bringing the mix back up.

“Whales Standing” is a game changer. Creepy lullabies for ladies and gents alike. Its also the most adventurous sonic insanity I’ve ever created. All of the sounds are 100% analog. Collecting all those old keyboards are finally paying off… not to mention the “LOST” instrument… I dont even know it’s name but when I played it, it was as if I was transported like Desmond, flipping between one reality to another…

How exactly she’s planning on reproducing this record on the stage is another story entirely… who the fuck knows…

Once I get the tracks back from mastering, I’ll post some of the b-sides for you kiddies.
