to use words.
so the tumblr thing is great. an interface that allows you to post just about anything with total ease. i get it and i enjoy much of the content i am exposed to. but i do miss reading stories and reading ideas that the free flow stream of just typing brings out.
so what has mt been up to? well. we’ve got shelly bhushan’s ep, “Make Believe”, julian jacob’s “catching stars”, & karen rockower’s “Whales Standing” readying for release this summer. three records that are completely different… very satisfying to work on.
ive been recording some songs with jill goldberg and have had the opportunity to not only call in friends to play but had a great day over at Hard Luck this past weekend. really hoping more sessions afford me that luxury.
so happy to now own an API 3124… my mic pre collection is instantly got so much sexier! now i just need to get some time down in my studio to tune the room and start recording drums… then i’ll truly be able to take over the world. everyone can take a piss.
im so tired… i hate when i go through these stretches of not seeing my daughter for several days in a row. its tough when your work keeps you out of the house all day and night. the only time i see her is at 6am-8:30am… and im usually on only an hour or so of sleep… at least liz is sort of awake when i get home… sometimes. its pretty funny how easy it is to start letting guilt get the best of you. truth is these times aren’t the majority and luckily, right now i can pretty much make my days work… but then there are weeks like this.
i get thinking about how i would’ve made this work if i was on tour. even when sessions keep me out of town for a few weeks at a time… it’s not months. when a child is just a baby every week is a totally new experience… you could miss entire phases. i cannot believe im trying this shit. but this is what the forum is for.
ha, that being said, im thinking of playing some music in front of people again in the near future. stoley and myself have been doing a little of fooling around… nhmo… and ive talking with grg about the idea… i think the three of us are such veterans of the trade that we could make some heads turn pretty easily. i think the time is right. who knows, maybe a new record will come out of the whole thing.
ok… back to work.
